Just read Matt Smith is returning for new series.... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO He is a lousy and camp doctor-he has destroyed it.last ep best in his whole 2 series, but not good enough to save it. Stephen Moffet hasn't helped in his storylines either

I could not agree with you more bagpuss.Viewing figures are down yet he is staying on.Poor actor poor scripts.Mat Smith is unconvincing and at times plays it as a farce......waving his arms about .Perfect part for him would be a remake as Herman Munster.Beeb please save The Doctor dump this ham actor.
Agreed - don't like Amy Pond either :-(
no I dont like her either chell
Worst Dr Who ever in my opinion, both doctor and storylines are rubbish!
Agree 100%. Tried with him when he first took over, dipped in now an again just to see if my view had changed, but no. He's pants, the writing is rubbish, and - going on a christmas episode I recorded and tried to watch - the stories are pathetic an make no sense. The programme has been totally ruined. INHO Matt Smith is playing David Tennant as the Doctor, and that's not working.
I don't know what you lot are complaining of. I've quite liked the new series. Convoluted and yet most of it seems to hang together.

That said I've never worked out when it was the Doc too the Tardis in for an interior refit. I don't recognise it as the one Hartnell used to operate.

(And Pond is gorgeous :-p )
I think the trouble is the younger generation like him... my son thinks he's good although not as good as David Tennant
I agree with you Geezer - I love Dr Who. Matt Smith is good - though not as good as David Tenant was but loads better than Tom Baker and Christopher Eccleston. Amy is ok. Rory is great!!
He was very good as Christopher Isherwood in Life in Berlin. However I find him to camp & effeminate to be Dr Who (even though he is so not gay in 'real life').

I preferred David Tennant.

then again, I'm no true fan of Dr Who, so who am I to comment anyway? Just thought I would.
Matt Smith is great. Stephen Moffat? Not so great, but I thought the death threats were a bit OTT ...
Doctor Who has lost its innocence.

Big budgets, clever writers and new techy tricks have changed it for the worse.

Agreed, Matt is camping it up, and Amy is wooden, but we've had badly cast Doctors before.

Bring back Professor Quatermass!!!
I like Matt as the doctor. He had a tough gig following David Tennant (who was fabulous!) And since he took over, it's been more "The Doctor and Amy Show", which is the writer's fault.

And that leads me to my main problem with the series. Karen Gillan as Amy Pond. She's a dreadful actress, makes my teeth itch watching her, so I haven't watched as much of Dr Who as I hoped, because I find her so irritating.

And Steven Moffatt seems to be seriously overthinking stuff! I would love RTD to come back for a couple of guest writing slots to see what he would do with the Doctor.
Dr Who has always been overrated and over publicised. Its a pretty poor depiction of what time travel would actually be like, and as far as Matt Smith goes, he doesn't even look like he could act if he were acting as an actor acting. Amy Pond is a real treat though. Best thing on TV after 10:30 am.
