Sort of a one-horse pony.
I don't think they would stand up to scrutiny doing anything else. Barbara Knox was a club singer years ago, but she hasn't many strings to her bow either.
In all fairness, if you find yourself with a meal ticket for life, why exchange it for uncertainty? I'm sure William Roache's CV (Ken Barlow) is not much fuller.
I whole heartedly agree `Why` and why don`t the doctors and nurses who do some amazing work for the likes of us and work all the hours of the day and night, get more recognition and get medals? I salute them all.
Do you really, Carlton? A bit blinkered, in my opinion.
Whilst the majority of doctors and nurses are good, hard working, dedicated individuals there are plenty of murderous, uncaring, dangerous people who have been working in the medical profession - Harold Shipman, Benjamin Geen, Beverly Allitt, Ann Grigg-Booth....
Not forgetting the surgeons who learned their skills at the expense of the NHS only to dedicate their lives to making a fortune on private boob jobs and other unnecessary surgery.
Barbara Knox and Eileen Derbyshire have given me and mine years of pleasure via the television and both work tirelessly for charity, without blowing their trumpets.
I wholeheartedly agree with you hc4361.

It seems the people who are complaining are the people who are not interested in Rita and Emily. Soo how can they have an opinion on them?

jem
who cares ??? they get to shake hands with the queen and get awarded a bit of metal end of
They got their awards for the same reason all actors/sportsmen/pop stars get them. Because politicians think that by giving an award to someone who's popular some of that popularity will reflect onto them. Very cynical, but that's what the honours system is.
Did anybody see Barbara Knox on the Paul O' Grady Show last night?

Why was she wearing what appeared to be a dead rodent/hedgehog on her head?
It was a hat her mother gave to her 29 years ago, she asked her mother when would she ever have an occasion to wear a hat like that, but she did - to collect her MBE!!
Well you obviously didn't corylus.
