I have a laptop running Windows 7 and as normal it comes pre-installed with Office 2007 which I can choose to buy.
I prefer Office 2003 and have installed it. However every so often - too often - Office 2007 will open up and try to get me to install it.
I don't wish to delete it from the drive but is there any way to stop Ofice 2007 from trying to install itself?

Why do you not want to delete it?

It's going to stop working when the 30 day (or is it 60) trial period runs out anyhow.

Yes ChuckFickens, I thought it would run out but I've had the laptop for almost 6 months now and it hasn't run out. I just thought that one day I might want to upgrade to 2007 but not now.
Uninstall from Start., Control Panal, Add/Remove programs.
It's start > control panel > programs and features in windows7.

I know how to delete the programme. What I wish to do is disabl eit only.
Just uninstall it.

If you decide to upgrade in the future you will get the office2007 cd and you just reinstall it from that.

Yes, you are most likely correct.
The two programs cant exist together 2007 Office is trying to upgrade 2003 in a situation called hybrid Office. I have recently come across this situation and after a lot of investigation found that you have to completely remove one of them. If you remove 2007 remove it from the add and remove programs . Also make sure you also remove the trial upgrade utility as well as it will give you grief. If you cant find it download and run the Windows Cleanup utility and remove from there along with any other parts that are left.
