How many of you wash your duvets? And how often? Not the cover, the actaul duvet itself. My OH doesn't think they should be washed at all! Also, last time I took it to the launderette it cost more to wash it than it was to buy a new one! Thanks.

the only time i attempted to squash my king size duvet in the w machine i wrecked the seal and flooded the kitchen lol so i just buy a new one each year now.they always come up in our local sainsburys for around 70% off at least once a year so for about £7 for a 13 .5 tog king size you cant go wrong.
Oh yes you can wash feather duvets. Have an expensive 2 part feather and down king size set and take them to the laundrette one half at a time. They have outdoor space so give them sun and let them air dry, otherwise it's their drier.
Not cheap for feather wash - £15 but I'm happy. Wouldn't want to throw away perfectly good duvets. My feather mattress topper can be washed there as well for the same price, but it didn't make it there this year!
Put my Kingsize hollowfill in the washing machine once every couple of months.
I buy a new one whenever the existing one starts to look "lumpy" as I don't want to cream cracker my machine either
I wash my duvet in the launderette once a year - dont think it would fit in my washing machine - and as others have said...i'd be afraid to put it in there in case of malfunction etc. I suppose the duvet should really be washed more often.....
I would attempt a single hollofibre in a domestic machine but not anything bigger. I dont think it gets agitated enough for proper washing. But I suppose it's better than nothing..
Maybe right .. But check inside when it gets wet .. and its slopping around well. It's not a high TOG tho .. so not very dense : )
