hi all,
hopefully you can help with this one,
fitted a new motherboard to pc (hp compact s3621uk)old one packed in,it seems to
a common fault in these machines from all the reviews ,
my problem is this
every night i switch every thing off and pull out all plugs due to my kids being energy consious , but in the morning i have to reset the time and date , if i just switch off as normal every things fine????
any ideas guys

When you fitted the new motherboard, did you put a new CMOS battery in. It looks like a watch battery about the size of a 10p piece. When the pc's off the battery provides enough power to remember date and time.
Also check that the board didn't come with an insulator strip (to extend the shelf-life) that needs to be removed from the battery holder.
Replace the CMOS battery you will need a CR2032 battery for it
