i know teenagers have a habit of lax hygene and tidyness but i find my step-daughters minging behaviour beyond acceptable standards.

like me when i was 15 its messy bedrooms, leaving clothes draped around, leaving cups out etc.

her bedroom is often festooned with various cups displaying levels of bacterial growth etc. but what i witnessed yesterday was period stained pants discarded on the bedroom floor, a couple of pairs. often used tampons will be rolled up in their packaging and left of the toilet cistern. maybe its my fault because i chucked the bin out of the bathroom long ago.

does anyelse witness this level of filthyness? she's in her last year at school, takes no pride in her appearance and has always been lazy/dirty.

Yeah Barmaid, prozac for you too then? ;-)

I remember our last family holiday with her, she was 16. It was baking hot, and she spent the majority of the holiday cocooned in her sleeping bag inside the tent snoring in unbelievably hot weather.

And i smacked her when she did anything grossly wrong as a tot sqad, and it didn't make a blind bit of a diference in the teen years, so perhaps it works in some cases and not others?
it does indeed barmaid lol
could you all keep it down about it getting worse mines only 12 and is much like you are all describing now!!!! lol im getting scared!!!!! haha

yes to clarify I'm male and stepdad to 15 year old and have 5 year old - both girls.

as for the hygene i do alot of clearing up after to make sure tidyness doesnt slip into health hazard. i draw the line at picking these pants off the floor. i told wife about it wednesday night, she told 15 year old to pick them up. they are still there as of this morning.

Boo is right - you cant educate pork. All i can do is attempt to create a safe environment as intelligent reasoning is wasted on your average teenager. I was the same (untidy, not dirty)
you've every justification to be scared babybop. If it helps any ive a 5year old girl......

i have the samaritans on standby and the prozac and vodka on order.
snafu if the girls have to share maybe a screen dividing the room would be a good idea
And Snafu, don the rubber gloves, pick the knickers up, straight into the bin. When she's no underwear left a tiny point may register in the teen fog that is a brain- i wouldn't hold your breath though (well i would when picking up the kecks, but you get my point!)
anyway what ever you decide snafu i hope it works for you i'm off for a shower as i feel non to fragrant myself lol
have a good day all x
haha boo ill get the narcotics on a repeat from next may ( when shes 13!!!) and the voddie is in the freezer chilling as we speak!!! hehe im not to bothered about it i was just stating that she is the same as others I just wont go into her room anymore!!! haha good luck everyone else xxx
My daughters were pretty untidy when they were teenagers. One was worse than the other and still is despite her now being a mum to a 2 year old and a newborn. I tried everything to get her to be clean and tidy but nothing worked. It got to the point of me thrusting cans of deodorant at her whenever I saw her, and I used to run baths for her every day too. My other daughter is now a clean freak, her house is spotless and her kids (age 2 and age 1) and her are always well turned out.
Why don't you show her this thread, let her see the comments, perhaps embarrassment will give her a jolt and also let her know how you feel about it all.
You never know it might sink in. Remind her too her school friends are probably reading it all too.

whwn u say no pride in her appearance, do you mean unkempt? unwashed, dirty clothes etc...or just that she doesnt plaster herself in makeup and wear sparkly dresses and hair extensions etc?
Have the 5y old in parents room so the 15y has her own private space. Nowt so annoying as having a 5y old use the teens cosmetics etc. Are you sure the 5y doesn't mess room up.

Stepdads need to give teen girls privacy & space.
Yuk! Dirty lazy cow. Kick her ar$e and make her do some housekeeping.
My daughter's room was always immaculate during her teenage years and never caused me any anxiety, which is a blessing really as it was slightly more stressful trying to stop her clambering out of her bedroom window at 10pm on a school night to go and meet her mates and drink cider over on the rec.
haven't read all of this thread, but has anyone thought she might be depressed ( as in clinically not just the oft-spouted nonsense)
I just think she's not been trained how to cope with the situation and needs it explaining simply and the tools for the job provided with detailed instructions.
