A Jewish gentleman told me he was not allowed to leave London before 7.30pm (26.9.10). Is this true? Or am I being taken for a ride?

What do you mean? He can't leave London tonight before 7.30pm? Who told him that? His wife?
Or the courts? He may be electronically tagged.

Sorry, it was supposed to be the 25.9.10. He said he couldn't leave his home until 7.30pm because of his religion. I don't know if he is winding me up or whether it is a genuine part of Jewish Religion. I know there is Sukkot (sp?) at the minute. Don't know if it is anything to do with this?!
Why not just ask him?
I don't often get on here now, but 22nd to 29th September is the Jewish festival of Sukkot/Tabernacles, If he is a practicioner of the faith, then it may have had something to do with that.

Best thing, as your obviously curious, and he won't mind, do as Keyplus says, and ask him.
shabhat ended 42 minutes after sunset on 25.09 and in london sunset was 6.53, so this would sound about right.
Thank god I decided not to take up being jewish.
