My daughter is having her first proper party soon. I know what I would usually do for a party but wanted to try and steal some ideas too. Thanks.

We always have a Halloween party and buy little mini bread buns from Birds (I think they are local to the midlands though) and make mini beef burgers and sausages and make loads of beef burgers and hot dogs served with smilie faces and fries and a green salad they seem to love that.....I always make little choclate cakes and prepare the butter cream and have a selection of sprinkles and toppings and let each child decorates their own cake....they love that too.

Thanks for all the ideas - it's a joint party and the when I asked the other mam she said 'oh I dunno, a sandwich and some crisps' (luckily she's in charge of making the cakes - one for each birthday girl!).
Right then Ummmm and 4get - party will be in my back garden usually the 2nd saturday in August -that way those staying over go up to the Highland Games on Sunday for a hair of the dog and picnic while watching the events. You might need to bring a tent to pitch in garden when the man takes the bouncy castle away.
2nd sat in Aug!!! Thats ages away :-(
How very disappointing....I'll write it in my diary anyway...

I have a strawberry jelly with dream topping in the fridge...brb :-)
You can try Raclette party. It is unusual and very fun! I bought one very cheap here http:www.manetia.co.uk with recipes. And for dessert they have New Electric pastry maker with recipes - you or girls can make 3D shaped cakes.
