We got a Belkin N150 router today. It comes with a Wireless USB adaptor included. I connected it to my PC with a cable and set it up. However when I tried to connect the lap top to it the lap top would not see the router unless I plug the USB into it. The PC connects okay using the lead. I thought that the lap top should have been able to see the router without the USB as it has wireless built in. Do you think this is an issue with the router itself?

Nope.
You have to ensure Wireless is working ok on laptop (icon in sys tray) and set up for Windows to run that system.
Then check for wireless networks in range.
Connect and enter the pass that is found on the sticker on router or in the settings webpage for it. Wireless system should store the info for the connection for next time. You can set "connect automatically"

AlBags, the wireless icon does not light up on the router unless the USB adaptor is connected to the lap top and when I look for networks to connect to on the lap top it only sees the router when I've got the USB connected to it.
Does the laptop have a wireless switch on it? if so make sure it's on....

If that's not the problem then check the device manager to see if the inbuilt wireless card is installed OK...

Also, saying what the make and model of laptop is would (as ever!) help..
it could be your new router is set to have a hidden ssid or runnig a different channle to usb adapter ie set to broadcast n only.
so its probably worth checking on your router wireless setings

Yes, I'm slight with the details as I feel it's hard to know were to stop and it's easy to ramble on. Anywho, yes there was a button on the top that had to be pressed and then it worked. I never saw that mentioned anywhere as I was clicking around the help&support sections. Thanks very much for the answers and I've got less hair now than when I started with the thing. Cheers guys.
it's often easier to decipher a bit of rambling on than it is to answer with no info... so ramble away next time :)

Glad it's working though
