i have deleted windows explorer by mistake. Can any one help me reinstate it to my pc?

Try a system Restore.

Are you sure you've deleted it or just the shortcut? Do you mean Internet Explorer, if so, try this:-

Control Panel
Add/Remove Programs
Left hand side (XP); Add/Remove Windows Components
Tick Internet Explorer

You may need a Windows CD.

I'd imagine that you would have had to be very persistent do delete windows explorer or even internet explorer.

As I understand it windows uses explorer to dispplay all folders. As i understand Microsloth made XP so that it cant function without their, ahem, "superior" browser...

So, you probably just deleted the shortcut, go to Programs > Internet Explorer right click on the big blue 'e' and select "send to desktop as shortcut" if you have somehow managed to delete explorer itself.. I have no idea and good luck!
