I had been doing some searching online. I have Siteadvisor (Mcafee) to warn me away from anything dangerous, but yesterday I clicked onto a site with a green safe symbol, but it wasn't safe, so my computer had a malware problem. To eliminate it I went onto control panel; programs and features; turn windows features on-off; and unticked Internet Explorer. My McAfee scan found nothing. I tried to get Internet Explorer 11 back on, but I am unable to get it by either downloading or re-ticking that box. Is there a way of getting Internet Explorer 11 back (with Windows 8.1)?

That is what I did before. I clicked on the red download button; moved cursor to Windows8.1-Kb290...msu (bottom left); clicked on "Open". The result was a window titled "Windows Update Standalone Installer" with the words "The update is not applicable to your computer".
