Does anyone know where I can get hold of some 6 x 6 cm (2 1/4 inch square) photo slide mounts that were once manufactured by Paterson, they have a hinged top to the frame unlike the modern Gepe snap-to type, used would be OK.

The last time I saw any of those was about 30 years ago, try ebay.
