when you go to the hairdressers are you supposed to tip them, and if so how much?

I think you will find most people do, and I guess around 10% although after highlights, and a cut and blowdry which can sometimes near the �100 mark another tenner seems far too much.
If I'm happy with my haircut, I always give him/her a couple of pounds. You don't have to though, the cut itself usually costs enough!

I personally find it demeaning to tip (no I am not tight).

I tipped in Cuba - only because they were so poorly paid.Why should we make anyones wages up when their employers should give them a decent wage in the first place.I do however give a teenager a pound or two to themselves as I know how delighted my daughter was when she was waitressing to get a wee tip.They are only on a couple of pounds an hour.

Some hairdresser gets paid basic and relies on tips to make up their wage. But it depends where they work and how the salon pays them.
I give a tip usually �2 but only if Im pleased with my cut and blowdry. I wont pay if a jobs not too my satisfaction.
