I have been suffering from Tendonitis (Tennis Elbow) for a couple of months now, but it has still not cleared up, and even doing something as simple as lifting a cup of tea is quite painful. My Doctor advised that I use a Hot & Cold Gel pack, which I have been doing for a few weeks now, but still no improvement.

My Doctor also told me not to strap my elbow in any way as this would restrict the movement in my arm, but I have looked at several websites, including NHS Direct, and they all advise that using a protective strap or brace is a good thing.

I have been thinking about by a TENS unit to see if that might help, and was wondering if anyone has any experience of using TENS, and did it help in any way.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Mrs JtH used to find that she got a certain amount of relief from her TE using a TENS machine.

You need to stop doing whatever it is that causes the symptoms before it becomes a chronic condition, though..........
I used the elbow support you can buy them from boots chemist.

Thanks for you answers.

I think I will give the TENS unit a try, and will also buy an Elbow support.
my osteopath tied tape around my arm just below the elbow, quite tight, and it worked a treat. Until I had to take it off, which was agony, ripped out all the hairs and left me with a sort of Brazilian arm. But in theory, a proper support should help. As I have no idea what actually causes the problem, I can't solve it that way.

My GP's given me some Piroxicam gel to rub in; I'm not sure if it's making any difference or not.
I had a steroid injection in my elbow and it worked a treat. I needed to drive to get to work and I couldn't use the gear stick in my car. The steroids don't cure but they relieve the pain and take down the inflammation and give the body a chance to heal itself. It might be worth having a chat with your doctor. The steroid injection was quite painful though!! I didn't need any further treatment, the problem settled.
