Can anyone recomend a good, reasonably priced hotel in Sydney? We will stay 2 days on arrival to get over the jet lag and then stay a further 4/5 days at the end of our holiday.
Thanks
Julie

we stayed at the Civic; no problems (six years ago, though).

Is there a reason why you're staying 4/5 extra days at the end of your holiday? For Sydney I'd find that too long. We found two days in Sydney quite enough. Mind you it was two complete days and no jet lag as we were flying westwards.
For good reasonable hotels look at tripadvisor.com.
you shouldn't have any trouble filling five days in Sydney, really: shopping's good, beaches are great, Blue Mountains are attractive, plus the usual sightseeing attractions - bridge, opera house, the Rocks historic area, galleries and so on.
I went on a full day trip to the Wine region - fully escorted, very good. We stayed near York Street, sorry can't remember the name of the hotel. I think it is easier if you know which area you want to stay in.

Many thanks everyone
Hi

We stayed in Travelodge in Sydney CBD (Central Business District). It is way better than the travelodges in the UK and we found it perfectly reasonable in terms of distances to the local attractions etc. For e.g it was a 20 minute walk to the Opera House. We booked it on Expedia.
