I am going to sydney. I don't want to stay in big chain hotels. Any ideas for quality, clean, hotels near the centre.

The ANA Hotel is great, it has a fantastic bar overlooking Sydney Harbour. The Hyatt is also lovely.

There's a beautiful guest house in Manly Cove called The Periwinkle. It's not actually in the city, but easily accessible by ferry which is a lovely journey taking in fantastic views of Sydney harbour. The telephone number is +61 2 99774668; fax number +61 2 9977 6308.
