Any views on the best webcam to purchase for real time interacting - I have no idea where to start!

They are all pretty similar: they cost �50 or so, are USB devices (make sure you have a USB port on your machine (most modern PCs and ALL modern Macs have USB) and the picture is terrible. Some have a built in microphone so you don't need to buy an extra one for when you "video conference". They usually come with instructions and software which will get you on your way. I believe xyzzyplugh once wrote on here that Yahoo Messenger is a good place to start with that web camera nonsense.
