I left home the minute I turned 18 - I couldn't wait to have my own freedom.

Does he have a girlfriend?
Question Author
Morning greedy,sadly no...
Goo morning. This may be why lol

I couldn't bear living with my mother now. She's nice and all but jeez she would drive me insane!
"does he have a girl friend" greedy fly?
some implication there?
why is it odd for a guy or girl to be still "at home" at 27 this is normal in Mediterranean countries being more family friendly they also have grandparents living with them till death, not farmed out like ours to a "home"
I think greedy simply meant that having a girlfriend would be the impetus to be more independent....privacy and all that.
Yes the implication is I wouldn't date someone who still lived at home with their parents at 27 years old unless they had a bloody good reason!
I'd be a bit dubious of a bloke living with his Mum at 27 as well.

Do you charge him rent?
Why wouldn't someone in their 20's want to have their own independence?

The only reason I would live at home now would be because either she was ill and needed my help or I needed to save money to buy a house. I couldn't wait to begin my own life and do my own things when I wanted. I loved every minute of my independence - still do.
And not all grand parents are farmed out either....mine aren't.
I can understand if it is cost...tho most will get a group together and share. at least any who've gone to UNI get independent quickly...and others just have it in them anyway.
I also wouldn't farm out my mother unless I was incapable of looking after her. As for the grandparents they were only happy to move into homes and are no longer with us.
Indeed. I would have rather lived with complete strangers than stay at home. I like my mother and we get on ok but to live her when it was no longer necessary would drive me mad. I guess some people are more independent than others.

I suppose Poodicat when he finds a partner he may very well fly the nest =)
Poodicat......can your son actually afford to move out and get his own place?

A work colleague of mine lived with his parents until he was 30, when he moved out into his own flat...........He was back living with his parents 2 years later, in debt and unable to afford to live on his own

Living at home has lots of financial benefits - usually a nominal rent or no rent at all, no utility bills, no Council Tax to pay, no food bills etc

Saying all that, I left home and was living with someone at 18!
poodi....if you are happy with the status quo and he is, then what is the gig deal?

I said to Mrs sqad that he is either "gay" or can´t get a girlfriend for some reason.
She said"Don´t you dare out that in your answer"

LOL
jno jnr is 27 and still at home. He is keen to go but needed rent-free accommodation while he saved for a flat, which he has no bought and is renovating, mostly with his own hands. Nothing odd about him or his situation. Those who move out without a place of their own to go are paying rent and delaying the day when they can own one.
I hope my kids are not at home at that age.....
It seems many want to buy straightaway...yet that was not the norm for me...and is not for my daughters friends. I say better to be on your own and renting than to wait...especially now with property up and down. Lil pasta was out at 16-tho still doing her A-levels, It was with the wrong guy.yet it made her quite independent.
Why is he still at home poodicat?
My daughter lived at home until she was 28..............luckily it was her father's.
