The wardrobes in my house were put in in the 80's and are badly in need of sprucing up ( I can't afford to replace them :( ). Which is the quickest, easiest way to paint them. They are made from melamine. TIA

Thank you for your replies.
I did my wardrobes & the kitchen units & they came up really well. I would recommend a coat or 2 of varnish to finish them off & help protect against scratches.

Messalina did you use the method that Count suggested?
Hi crapmemory, if you want nice smooth finish rub down very lightly in between coats with very fine glasspaper then wipe all the tiny bits off with a tack cloth which you can buy from B&Q etc.
Did mine with a silk effect wallpaper instead, used strong adhesive and topped it with a couple of coats of acrylic varnish in a plain room one of the large designer papers would look stunning
