I wouldn't be surprised with a nurse saying that.
My friend had a tumour on a bone in her neck which weakened the bone somehow and after a bad fall she broke a bone in her neck, when she went to a&e in a hospital in Dublin she told a nurse/doctor that she thought she broke her neck, the nurse then told her "not to be ridiculous and that she was truly living up to her blonde image if she thought that".
My friend couldn't believe it and asked for another doctor...Turned out her neck was broken and she was in hospital for several months.
Ilsonchick, I think it's horrible that nurses doctors etc can speak this way to some patients.
My mam had to get a mole removed from her foot as it grown bigger and there was a change in colour on it, Our gp advised her to get it removed which she did, however the doctor in the hospital who was removing it was so offensive to my mam and accused her of being self obsessed and vain because she was getting a mole removed from her foot!! He thought it was vanity!! I seriously think some of them are in the wrong profession!!
