How many children can I take swimming on my own - I want to take my two year twins but some friends of mine seem to think I can't take them on my own until they can swim (but how are they going to learn to swim if I can't take them?). Thanks

check with your local pool, its usually 1 baby to 1 adult.
You would need to check at your local pool. It is one adult to one child under 3 I think where I go. Have you a friend or relative to help? I went with my son in law and grand children when they were little.

I was going to go with a friend (who has a little one) - haven't been able to go until now but my four year old starts school in September so I wil only have the two little ones at home (definately knew that I wouldn't be allowed to take all 5 on my own!!).
This is the rules for our local pool:

Children under the age of 8 should be accompanied in the water by a responsible
adult of at least 16 years of age.
* One adult may accompany up to two children under 8 in the water.
* Children under the age of 5 should ideally be accompanied on a 1:1 basis in the
water, regardless of swimming ability.

I think they are pretty strict, but it does say "ideally" so I guess you could argue a case - especailly for twins! My husband used to take our two on his own when they were little and they are only a year apart, but we lived in another town then.

Look up the swimming policy and if it is biit vaugue, you could try your luck, I think two adults to three kids looks better than 1 adult to two kids.
