Our builder has re-used the outside door that was in our old kitchen and re-fitted it as a side door into the garage.

The number "BS5713-91" is on the beading between the two sheets of glass. The young building inspector says he will have to look into this to check if it's up to today's safety standards. He's going to speak to the older building inspector and get back to us.

Does anyone have any knowledge of "BS5713-91" please? I can't find anything of much use on the internet.

Thanks in advance. xxx

I have fitted the film for a few years now, on behalf of the local council as part of a child safety initiative, ...
If your builder has'nt fitted the film before I can tell you now it is more costly for a roll of it, than it would be for a piece of 6mm laminated glass.
One tip I will give is put a spot of Fairy liquid in an atomiser and half fill it with water, and spray the glass with loads of liquid.... more than you would imagine...it just allows you to push it around ... before using a sqeege to press it home.

Thanks for that, alavahalf. We were actually going to order some from the internet and fit it ourselves. Can't find a shop that we could call in and buy it from, or we would do that.

The building inspector has told us to tell our builder that he made a mistake with this, but to be honest, he has done such a good job on the rest of the build (now finished) that we don't want to point it out to him unless we absolutely have to.

Thanks again for your help. x
