Well, Plan “B” seems to have done the trick by stimulating your little grey cells in the absence of caslass. I decided as a SETTER intending to TRIP you up whenever possible, that I would show no MERCY until you were all stripped to the BONE ~ as shown by my chosen links:

Irish SETTER
Trip WIRE
MERCY Killing
SKELETON Key

The continued absence of caslass is starting to cause me some concern. She was so enthusiastic about being chosen as setter before going AWOL. Let me know if she is spotted elsewhere on AnswerBank and that she is well!

Dinkypuzzled opened the proceedings and dealt a crushing blow by predicting both IRISH SETTER and SKELETON KEY for FOUR POINTS. He was followed by ulysses100 with the same bony solution for Two Points and when our old friend Alibobs (welcome back) fell over the TRIP WIRE (for TWO POINTS) there came a surge of scorers with Strix & seekeerz (each picking up Two Points) and (more spectacularly) Christiana & Grenmus hitting the heights with Four Points each. Each of these is a previous MM Links Champion of proven pedigree.

It took until 09.10 when Entrant #19 entered into the fray and Elspeth delivered a MERCY KILLING by using a Trip Wire for a well-earned THREE POINTS. Although several players scored an impressive Four Points, Elspeth was able to pick off the very last link word in a double whammy and I believe that she deserves the honour of being awarded the title of HOT SHOTS OF THE WEEK.

After a short hiatus, there came a long string of one-pointers including kawakiri, teacher1, barb7771, wickedtongue, rockfordill, evsajo, mirandasmum, joto, Magyar, x-ray & sarumite. However, before the game came to a gentle close, there was a late (but quality) visit from gen2 who offered the same double whammy as Elspeth for Two Points!

The League Table after this first week is:

FOUR POINTS: Christiana, Dinkypuzzled & Grenmus
THREE POINTS: Elspeth
TWO POINTS: Alibobs, gen2, seekeerz, Strix & ulysses100
ONE POINT: barb7771, evsajo, joto, kawakiri, Magyar, mirandasmum, rockfordill, sarumite, teacher1, twix123, wickedtongue & x-ray

There is still time for caslass to make a contribution, but the bottom line is that the show must go on! Whatever the week has in store, I shall be here next week for Round 2. Be there or be square!

For now, this is crofter signing off.

Until we meet up again: HAPPY LINKING!

:o)
Thanks Crofter, I have rather drifted away from the site over the last couple of years but glad to see you are still going strong!
Thank you for the title of Hot shot of the Week! I have been doing so badly lately and I am really chuffed at being chosen. Will try even harder now. Congratulations to everyone who did so well.
crofter....Did you check for late entries? I put in a late entry at around 6.30 pm and Jim did score 2 points. Nil for me of course.
thank you crofter for nothing (my score, that is!) and for being there!! I hope caslass is ok and will pop out of the ether soon ~ I suspect a technical problem as she sounded really upbeat about it all. Oh! and well done all you rotters who scored points, sniff, sniff!! :0)
Thanks Crofter. I can see we're still not on anyone's wavelength. Congrats to all those who were on yours this week.
Hope for your sake that caslass turns up.
Thanks for setting and for scoring.
The Ontys
Thank you Crofter for those two points.

Unfortunately, I put my hobby first and so was not around at the start to have any chance of bonus points. I left at 7:30am to go to Anstruther in order to take pictures at high-tide under near calm conditions. The idea was to get reflections in the sea across the harbour. I got my pics but didn't get back until 10:10am.

Caslass has disappeared off the face of AB. Not seen since last Monday (Last Activity: 21:40 on Mon 31/May/10) - not like her. I hope she is OK.
Thanks crofter - nil return for me, though. I hope caslass turns up in time for next week. Aq.
Thanks crofter - no luck for me either this week, but I'll keep trying!
Oh 'eck..nowt for us!

JimJools, You are quite right about not checking late entries!

It takes well over an hour to process the entries and sometimes I just make the deadline of 7.00pm, but I always then go back to collect the latecomers. I can confirm that all is now checked and double-checked.
Just back from relaxing weekend in the Peak District - very pleasant. Sorry to read abput apparent problems with Caslass - like you all, I hope she is OK. Crofter, I'm sending you an email as we speak...
Thanks crofter. I know you have a lot of work to get it all up and running and it is appreciated. Thanks again. Jools xx
