You need to increase your calcium levels. Increasing your calcium levels will alleviate depression and mood swings associated with PMT. Also take agnus castus, which clinical trials have shown to alleviate the symptons of PMT. Agnus castus comes in liquid tincture form known as agnolyt and also in tablet form (Kira Agnus Castus). You'll find these at the NutriCentre (0800 587 2290) where you will also be find calcium supplements.

Hope this helps.

Try taking one Evening Primrose Oil Capsule EVERY day, it certainly helped me.

physical exercise and sex ,both usually free.

I would be sceptical about claims that various drugs and supplements are of benefit.Good evidence of benefit is very thin

Sex when you have extreme PMT calleach?  I'd kill him!

Try homeopathic remedies.  It may be psychological, but they worked for me.  I think Boots still stock a good range with leaflets etc helping you to choose the right one.

I suffer from awful PMT, and psychological or not Oil of Evening Primrose helps me. I also try (and usually fail) to avoid sugary food to keep blood sugars level. It may also be worth taking a b vitamin complex as this has been said to help.

'have a Banana'

They are high in potassium, which is similar to Lithium. it makes the brain more stable and rational. Their cheap and you can get them just about anywhere. And they wont put a strain on your diet like chocolate will.

And finally, if you start screaming at your  B/F 'have a banana' is alot nicer than saying 'your being irrational/rude/crazy/psychopathic.'

I Used to suffer from horrendous PMT every month, I'd deliberately start arguements with my husband and ended up throwing things at him, However I had an Implanon contraceptive implanted fitted a couple of months ago. This has caused me to stop having periods and the PMT has vanished. I know this won't automatically be the same for everyone, and hormones affect different women in different ways, but it may help you, if you are comfortable with having one. Hope this helps

I have the same type of symptoms - i get really tearful for a few days, all my problems seem awful, my life seems a mes etc. Gets more and less with strength of period? It started when I was 15 and got progressivly worse - now 18. Went to a psychiatrist and it was diagnosed as cyclothymia, a mild mild mild form of depression.

Type it into google, there's loads of info there.

Careful with amandaindie's advice. I was put on the pill and told it will either cure or severley worsen. Mine did the latter, I'm on a 3rd type now trying to find a good one.
