We had some bloke at the door today just as I was dishing up dinner so the OH answered. This guy said he was doing some research and started to ask questions, the first being " Do you have primary school age children in the house?" Given that the garage door was open and there is a stack of bikes, skateboards and footballs lying there, there was a bit of a clue! Anyway, my Oh didn't answer him he just questioned who he there on behalf of. He said something like Children Security and said that maybe our school had mention them. My husband said no and sent him on his way. Anybody heard of this or was this a bit of a creep?

Spoke to the school- they are not aware of anything - spoke to the police - they radioed out to the local community policeman - he isn't aware either - they have arrange to give my husband a call when he gets home. They were really nice and said not to worry if it was genuine - they would rather know and eliminate the innocent. I'll let you know the outcome.
Good work annie, if there is an "Undesirable" floating around it's good to make everyone aware!
well done annie.

I kind of feel sorry for the bloke if it is genuine - but as my OH says, why would you employ someone who looks that dodgy to collect information about children?
Question Author
I will be picking them up from school today as well to be on the safe side.
if its genuine then he would be aware that his actions will cause a few questions amongst parents and will have experienced this before. If he hasnt then he will know for future how dodgy he seems
Years ago "Do you have primary school age children in the house" used to be the opening line from book salesmen, usually they were trying to sell you expensive encyclopedias. I can't really see them doing that now though. :o)
Hope you get it sorted out.
Agreed and If he is genuine then maybe this should teach his company to leave leaflets or cards so that any suspicion or confusion is avoided in future.

I collected the boys from school today and chatted to a couple of other parents who hadn't had anyone at their door and then came home to a message on the answering machine from Police Public Liaison saying that she has the same company at her door last night (she must live locally) and that as far as she was concerned it was a genuine caller. She left a reference number to phone back, so might try that tomorrow to see what it was all about. All I can say is that they may want to review their practices and employ less dodgy looking staff. Anyway, all's well that ends well.
