My dad wants an mp3 player as his stereo doesnt play copied cd's. He wants to have all his songs on the mp3 player and play them through the stereo. He needs a decent sized memory, probably a bit more than an ipod shuffle, but not quite as expensive! Any ideas what i can recommend him?!

My husband has a Creative MuVo which he loves. Check out the John Lewis website which has them on.

your best bet for this scenario may be to buy a portable mp3-cd player. will easily attach to the hifi, and blank CDs are cheap as anything to buy. not quite the elegant solution of a solid state or hard drive device, but its a solution.

not sure you can find a good quality player thats that much cheaper than a shuffle with a decently larger capacity.

If "plugging it into the stereo" is the main intended use, then even a mid-range DVD player, (about 50-60) will play CD's, MP3 discs and any other audio format. Alot cheaper than an MP3 player.

(That's assuming he's just pretending he doesn't want an MP3 player for its 'music on the go' function')
