Given a choice of a two year old golf, 08 plate 1.6 match FSI with 7k on the clock with high spec interior or a basic 1.4S model, 3 months old and 2k on the clock 59 plate, with only £500 difference in price, what would ebayers go for?

Older but nicer or newer but more basic?

Just don't know what to do, first car I've bought on my own since splitting with husband and need some advice. Thanks!

I would go for the older one. Mileage is low for a year old car and if there were any faults(unlikely with a new car these days) they should have been sorted but get an aa check on it for peace of mind. good luck
I would go for the 2year old with high spec.
If you use your car as a skip than the basic 59 plate should be fine!!!!!!
I would have the 59 plate, as it is the newer shape which will help when it comes to resale and looks a bit more up-to-date. The basic interior on the modern golf is still a nice spec and there won't be a big difference in power. Plus, the warranty on the older one has just 12 months remaining as opposed to the 33 months on the newer, giving further peace of mind.
the 59 plate

- A 1.4 (lower insurance compared with 1.6)
- 2 Years age diff (59 plate being next to new)

Hi - thanks for the replies. Have bought the 59 plate. The O8 was lovely, high spec interior and only 7k on the clock but since I only need it for city driving have gone with the more basic model. Very pleased! Thanks again.
