OK 1.5% rise is another £2-3m we spend on the USOS, not much in the scheme of things I agree. Why do they not understand how much the public are mightily pi55ed off with these leeches. If any of them had an ounce of sense they'd halt their systematic plunder of public money! Why don't they get it?

Can't agree Zeuhl. Their prime home should be in the constituency (if outside of London) with an adequate flat in London which could be used if the family visit or for school holidays. It shouldn't have to be a second home as such. And senior managers for private companies aren't financed by us!! It's up to their companies if they want them to have two homes.
And I can't see why it would make any difference for female MP's either?

There are loads of family men who have to work away from their families. That's life. How about the blokes out on the oil rigs? You can't have everything you want in this life, but the majority of MP's live in cloud cuckoo land.

Probably Zeuhl!
I am really so sorry for Val she doesn't know that my heart and life is with someone else.
Sorry wrong thread.
Now I am curious. What is Sqad up to now!?
LOL
yes, I wouldn't object if London addresses were provided for MPs rather than them finding their own in nice green suburbs and charging them to us. (Though I'm not saying they should be forced to live in slums either.) Someone suggested handing over the Olympic Village to them after 2012 - just down the Jubilee Line from Westminster. But having a London home isn't a perk, it's a necessity. They need to be in their constituency; they need to be in London. Both are legitimate parts of their job. Which one is the main address is up to them, but it should be a one-off decision, no flipping.
No problems with that jno. A london home which meets a certain standard and furnished adequately complete with fixtures, fittings, etc. All extra trimmings and niceties to be provided personally by the MP's themselves. I just thought some empty buildings (in decent areas of course) could be converted into apartments. They could then all live together!!
