Is there any way to tell if a bidder, when there are only 2 people bidding on an itemm is purposefully pushing the bids up and is possibly working with the seller? nah bet there's not is there? Just me being over suspicious but this has happened twice now, I put my max bid in when it gets to nearly the closeing time, and someone comes in and starts placing bids pushing the price up and seems to stop when they have reached my maximum

As others have said put in your maximum bid a few seconds before end of auction. But I always try and make my max.bid an obscure amount ( eg if I am prepared to pay £30 for something I always add a few pence for example £30.37p) It is amazing how often the odd few pence I have added actually wins the item
