Could someone please tell me, how long after taking 40mg Simvastatin per day, should one expect side effects (if any ??) and if the dose is lowered, is there permanent damage ?? i.e. to the muscles or liver.

I do take 20mg as does my husband,
My Liver is being monitored as blood test showed a "slight " problem.

Husband was put on 40mg but immediatly suffered pains in his legs. He told his GP and was put back on the 20mg.

Whoever it was further up the page said GPs get cash incentives you are right. A friend who is in nursing told me. The Government offer incentives to all GP surgeries for each patiend who are prescribed them!!!

My wife was on simvastatin but suffered side effects (generally unwell) so she was prescribed Atorvastatin and she has been fine ever since.....so what is the difference between these two drugs?
after taking them for 3 days (i'm 24) I started getting head rushes/tingling that started at the back of my head, moved up and to the front and sat there, followed by heart palpitations and my legs shaking uncontrollably, this repeated in cycles every 5-10 minutes, i have refused to take any more, the doctor said that's ok as my cholesterol was 5.2 by then,
