Why BBC did you make this rubbish? What a waste of money this was, the biggest let down ever. Did any one else see it what did they think?

Nice to reminisce - off to Sainsbury's now Sqad - catch you later. ;o}
Ha, ha, ha! Just read your last post Sqad - where have those 'innocent' youthful days gone? The sun was always shining & the nights were long! ;o}

Back later......
I didn't see it, but it got panned in the Guardian.

It mentioned a line where someone says ...

"Have you ever been to the National?"

(meaning Theatre, or Gallery, or something)

And is there any parallel universe in which the supposedly "funny" line that followed was not painfully predictable ...

"No, but I went to the Derby once"

Were the gags written by a bunch of kids in some playground?

I'm glad I missed it.
JJ...I am glad that you missed it, you are too young too understand the nuances.

A completely different era with different values and expectations.
What sqad ... you mean really sh!t gags ?
JJ...see what I mean?.......you wouldn't understand.

One man's "sh1t" gag is another man's "belly laugh"
Oh, yes ... that was another "hilarious" exchange ...

"Do you like Rossini?"

"Oh, I'll drink anything."

I mean ... purleeeez!

Even your pals in the pub wouldn't be that corny without feeling a bit embarrassed.

So at what point did a group of professional scriptwriters sit round a table, and one of them says ...

"Hey, I've thought of this great Rossini gag ... "

... and they all thought that it sounded funny?
Sorry, sqad ... it must sound like I'm on my soap box or something.

x
JJ....you are absolutely correct.
And I didn't even see it.

=0(

I'll just shut up.
JJ the gags were true to the time - the drama wasn't written to contain new jokes. I think The Guardian have totally missed the point. You are too young to have understood it!! ;o)
Im too young to understand it too (70s baby) but i love OFAH and i really enjoyed rock and chips, my favourite bit was when joan named the baby and all across peckham you could hear everyone saying RODNEY!!!!! And the bit at the end across the balcony bought tears to my eyes........lovely!!
I don't remember this being billed as a comedy,for those people that watch big brother,say no more
