although strictly speaking it's not in the uk
However, having been ocupied, there are lots of things to see
It depends what you want to see. The Imperial War Museums in London and Manchester are good, and free. Most regiments have a museum, and these can be of widely varying standards of display. Bovington camp in Dorset has a tank collection, then there's the RAF museums at Hendon and Cosford. Most local museums have a decent 'home front' type display but phone and check in advance - permanent displays at Manchester Sci & Industry museum / Glasgow people's Palace / York Castle give a good idea of what homes looked and felt like.

There is a little bit to see at Lepe Country Park on coast near the New Forrest.

They did a lot of work there in preparation for the D Day landings. It was a major departure point for troops, vehicles and supplies, for the construction of the Mulberry Harbour

Still a lot of remains there

As already said, depends what you're interested in. Around Bridlington, there are lots of derelict WW2 defences (pill boxes etc) along the beach.
Eden Camp (http://www.edencamp.co.uk/) is nearby.
There's a derelict RAF underground bunker about 5 miles away: http://www.subbrit.or...ton/tour/distant.html
The D-Day museum in Portsmouth/Southsea
