Condensation and pipe insulation

2 weeks ago I had a new ceiling fitted in my kitchen and have just noticed a small damp patch appear.
The damp appears to have come from the water pipe that sits behind my toilet in the upstairs bathroom, but it is from condensation and there is not a leak in the pipe.
Does anyone have any advice on how to rectify this? Would insulation the water pipe suffice? I am worried that my nice new ceiling is going to get destroyed due to water damage.

Yes, if you are sure there is no leak in the pipe, your proposed solution will work.
What is happening is that warm, moist air from the kitchen is striking the cold water pipe, condensing some vapour back into liquid, which is dripping off.
If ayou insulate with that silvery/grey stuff that the DIY Sheds sell in 2 metre lengths, the problem will go away.
