Welcome to Celebrity Culture.

These are individuals who seriously interest and intrigue a large number of media consumers, in the 18 - 25 female strata.

It's obvious that none of these people appeal to you, but for a seriously large number of people, the minutia of their lives is of interest.

Best thing is simply to rise above it all - press on with what entertains and enlightens you, and simply ignore the 'celeb' stuff, it's not for you.

smashing word of wisdom here andy x
I'm with you on this Bobbi. However, as Andy says, a great deal people are interested in them (for some strange reason) and whilst they are interested the media pander to them - chicken and egg situation.

yesLottie, it makes me wonder why we want to see what they do?? as in "they" see what these people do, but there has to be better news around then seeing these air-heads, day in and day out when you open a paper, why don't they have Mr/Mrs so and so who have worked tirelessly for their community, probably as it wouldn't sell papers and why wasn't KK arrested for possesion of a hard drug??
It's probably to do with escapism and living vicariously - if you do a mundane job (at least 80% of us do...) and don't have wild sex/parties every night of the week, then you are quite possibly more likely to want to read about someone who does, instead of someone who does good stuff in their community. Plus we feel good when we read about crappy stuff that has happened to rich or glam people, I think that's a reasonably natural reaction ('look at all the money she's got, and she's still got cellulite/a rubbish boyfriend/badly behaved kids/a spelling mistake on her tattoo...

Nicely put Pipinhull, and I agree too
Pipin, I lead a very mundane life and unfortunately don't go to wild parties etc. and I still don't want to read about these so called 'celebrities'! ;o). However, you may well be right, as we all enjoy having a moan and picking these celebrities to bits!!

The only paper/magazine that I read fairly regularly is our local EDP which tends to concentrate on national and local news. Goodness me, their's a whole world to explore out there and loads of things to do, without concentrating on celebrities. Oh to be young and free again!!!!!
Question Author
better time we had in the 60s I think Lottie, these people are role models for the kids, some role models!!
I would say Vic Beckham appears to be a good Mum, but how skinny is she?
Air-head Hilton looking for a new British friend...purleeeese!!, like a trophy?
I would like to see KK turn her life about if only for the bad childhood she had.
And what will Jordan a.k.a Kati do when all everything goes South when she's older, Bet her tattoos are some sight then...lol, the butterfly will become an albatross..lol
I like Jordan.......she makes me so grateful for what I haven't got......
Question Author
I think she has mine too craft...lol, well I think the surgeon who pumped them up has!
Saw 2 magazines on shelf in shop yesterday one with jordan and some guy and I presume her kids and it was a wedding photo and the mag beside it with peter Andre saying he will never give her a divorce - I could not have been bothered to open magazine - what are they up to and what about the kids?
At least in the 60's Bobby we were 'ourselves' and didn't try to model ourselves on media images. All shapes and sizes seemed to be very much accepted then and we seemed much happier. The young today are far too self conscious about their image and so many young people seem to want to be 'celebrities' themselves!!

I had an absolutely wonderful life in the late 60's. I took every opportunity I could to live life to the full - not a care in the world.

I sound just like my Mum did - 'back in the good old days'. They weren't all good, but personally I am glad I was young then and not now.

best era going Lottie, the music, the fashion and the fun, drugs were going on but I can say they were never offered to me, I think you either did or you didn't and the "gang I knocked around with didn't, we were only too happy to go to the local YC, there was never any fights. knives ect; we seemed to enjoy life then, people might decry theres no YCs for kids now, but I think what we had would be too tame for them
I wasn't tame Bobbi!! ;o) - far from it.

(However, I didn't follow the crowd and I never dabbled in drugs)
