my daughter is doing her maths homework. She has four 2`s ie 2,2,2,2 and she has to make sums to total 5,7,9 and 11. she can do the even numbers but is stuck with the odd numbers

eg (2x2x2)/2=4

Can anyone please help with the sums?

How about

7=(2+2/2)^2 - 2
9=((2+2+2)/2)^2
11=(2+2/2)^2 + 2

All those answers are using five 2's.  Kiera stated that only four 2's were available to be used.

My view is that the 2's used to indicate the squaring operation should not count towards the total.

Two solutions for 9 and 11 using .2 as shorthand for 0.2

9 = 2/.2 - 2/2
11= 2/.2 + 2/2

I trust your daughter will acknowledge help given in obtaining her solutions.

7 = 2/(2 x .2) + 2

9 = 22/2 - 2

11 = 2/(2 x .2) + 2
