I have my laptop connected to a university halls network. Having recently tried, I simply cannot connect to any chat rooms. I have the most up to date Java download, and I think I have configured Java properly in the control panel. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

What happens when you try to connect to chat rooms?

I see a flashing Java "loading" emblem, and the it seems to time out, and the page stays blank.
Perhaps chat rooms have been blocked by the IT department.
Tools --> Internet Options --> Advanced.... Check your Java settings here.
It may be that the ports are blocked for the chat rooms you're trying to access. Contact your university systems administrators, or check out their website - somewhere you should find a list of available ports.
