It's a burgundy Triumph Roadster but cannot find difinitive proof of which model i.e. the 1800cc built 1946-48 or the 1948-49 2000cc.

Most opinion seems to favour the Triumph 1800 Roadster

My final post on this subject... honest!

This webpage seems to be of the owner of a car used in the filming of Bergerac and it is a Triumph 2000 Roadster

http://realloveradio.moonfruit.com/therep

...but this from an article about the car:

"The 1800 Roadster was not a great sales success and probably owes much of its collectors status to the British TV detective series, Bergerac. The main character of the TV show could be seen driving a burgundy Roadster around the channel island of Jersey, perhaps a strange choice of car for a modern day policeman!"

RogK - My 2nd post did state that 'most opinion' favours the 1800 and I cannot verify the claim of ownership highlighted in my 3rd post so I repeat that I cannot find definitive proof of which model the car is, but just because an article says it's an 1800 doesn't make it an absolute fact. So, for the moment, the jury is still out.
Kind of off-topic, but I seem to remember reading about someone buying "Bergerac's car" and finding that he had just got one of the cars used in the shoot - and that it was rusting out, and didn't have the plates as used on the show...
