For those of you who like to get drunk (or tipsy, even) - why do you do it, what is it that you like?

(not saying theres anything wrong with it, but just wondering if it differs from person to person)

i haven't got drunk in two years. the last time i was drunk i let my familly down. they were depending on me the next day and i couldn't get out of bed. unless it was to throw up. the worst was not being able to pick up my son at his mom-mom's house. but for me drinking is easy. it takes alot of southern comfort to get me drunk, but i can do anything when i'm drunk. another good reason to quit! drunk people make arse's of themselves! but i still have an occasional drink now and then.
oh and i enjoy being the dessignated driver! then i know my friends and fammilly will get home safe. not to mention other people on the roads!
I don't get drunk in public, but if I want to get drunk at a party or at home I do Snakebites and blackcurrant or jamesons
I do open a bottle of wine on my own if I feel tired or stressed in the evening, but never get drunk on my own.  I have done so in my younger days whilst in a tormented relationship, but have got older and wiser and realise now nobody is worth getting drunk for.

loss of control! when you're not completely on top of all your senses, reactions & actions, nobody can hold you responsible for anything - you are immune, nobody relies on you, nobody will overreact if you do something that is out of character or simply odd.

i love all the silliness that comes with being under the influence - how conversations get bizarre, and strange things happen, and the average funness rating of life goes up a notch or two.

being able to do things without being embarassed etc! im quite a shy person but when i get drunk im up for anything! i love it!

I find it difficult to have 'f'un' when I am sober, 'dry' even, which I can be for long periods.  I rarely drink at home by myself, but if I have a few in a crowded pub.I feel very happy, relaxed, and I can be quite funny, saying daft things - often witty - that I hold back on otherwise.  One or two beers - nothing.  Although I noticed the other night after a long period of no alcohol I started to feel 'woozy' quickly.  It is nice being tipsy but you must know when to stop.  I am sure I am horrible when I'm drunk, just as much as others are horrible when they have had too much.  On occasion I have had the one or two too many and then things get blurred, I can't think properly and I can''t control my limbs - not a state I care to be in at all.  It usually ends with a crash out in clothes, make-up, no cleaned teeth - all that.  I used to drink wine a lot but stopped a few years ago as I found my sinuses swelled up - a food intolerance sort of thing.  I have the occasional glass now but am careful.  Wine did get me tipsy better than anything else and I did enjoy drinking it.

Funny that a CiderMonkey should ask that!

leese me on drink

it gies us mair

than ony skil or college

it waulkens wit an kindles lair

an pangs us fou o knowledge.  rabbie burns

Myself a hard drinker (i don't consier myself to be an alcoholic. I would readilly admit if it was the case). I know you (reader) think it may sound odd, I use it as a girlfriend.

Anyway, onto the question. I despise being drunk. Because I don't like being not in control of myself. Being tipsy is not so bad. I sometimes get paraniod about it when talk to others.

there are so many different types of drunk. some i love and some i hate but unfortunately it appears to be a toss up whther i ecome one kind of drunk or the other.

also getting drunk with loads of people is kinda nice coz its sociable. its funny coz you're all really wrecked and you're really wrecked together. a couple of glasses of wine om your own while your cooking or decorating or pottering around the house listening to music is just nice. relaxing nad happy maikng.

I have never been drunk enough to forget what I have done the night before. Just drunk enough to want to forget what I have been doing the night before! I definitely feel more confident when drunk but for me it is important to know when to stop. I think that it maybe gives me the confidence to show who I really am more than giving me a different personality completely.
