hope this is the right place to put my question, which is, if you click on send a person a message, and you haven't made them a friend or asked them to be a friend, will they still receive that message? this is on facebook by the way

yes, and by doing so you allow them to view your profile for.. I don't know, a week or so!

so using facebook to "talk" or "befrend" a stranger - means they can then examine your personal details for a couple of weeks
