The currency is the Lira, but you can take stirling or Euros, they do not mind. Most places have ATMs so you can use your card abroad. Your bank will make a charge, so I only use it 2 or 3 times.

�1 = 2.5 YTR (New Turkish Lira)
Exchange sterling in all shops......at much better rates. Its a bargaining society and good discounts available when paying with sterling.
if you're going from Britain, taking euros would mean changing your money twice and being charged commission both times.
