Leave it in your bank account and get cash from ATMs with your debit card.
The Turks like English (and American) bank notes. Even in street markets you don't need Turkish money, but i recommend taking some Turkish notes in case everywhere doesn't take English.
When we were there last year we used sterling mainly and just changed a bit into Turkish Lira for emergency use.

Either travellers cheques or leave it in the bank and use your card.


Dont get Turkish money here in UK. Last time I went my son changed up 35.00 at the airport and got a hugh wad of money - millions - we all laughed.
