At the D-day celebrations:
1) Gordon Brown was booed by some veterans.
2) In his speech he referred to Obama beach instead of Omaha Beach.

I may have missed this in the news, but only saw it for the first time in"Have I got News for you"

If it was kept quiet until the PLP meeting on Monday night, it was a smart move.

It was reported that Brown was booed by verterans, and I have looked on YouTube and he undoubted booed, but it is unclear by whom.

On this clip from SKYs coverage, the camera pans to where the boos are coming from and it appears to be the press or some yobs they have brought with them.

I am very pleased to have exonerated the veterans. Booing at this commemoration would have been both undignified and rude.

I did think the booing didn't sound like 80+ year olds, and as the press were there, why they hadn't pictured or interviewed any of the protestors.

I agree with Gromit:

Our veterans are not a bunch of yobbos on a weekend "jolly" to Normandy for a stag party.

It was a pilgrimage for them to remember and honour their fallen comrades and it's inconceivable that they'd sully the occasion just to take a cheap shot at an admittedly unpopular PM.

Far more likely that the culprits were to be found in the massed ranks of paparazzi whose dignity has rarely if ever been known to be above reproach.
If you look closely enough you can see the man who shouts 'Where's the queen?'. He looks more like a veteran than a press person, but it's inconclusive.

Here is a screen grab of the people where the SKY camera panned to when it was searching for the boo-ers. Non of them look like octogenarians.

I have seen it suggested on another forum that the people responsible for the booing were the coach drivers that brought the veterans.

Mps these days seem to be making alot of mistakes especially when they are found out.

But Brown being the Prime Minister of this country you would have thought he knew the difference fro the surname of the American President to a beach in Normandy wher many lives were lost, good job he doesn't help to plan military tactics etc in his pointless war.

Like paraffin ,I think the booing was stage managed.

Stage managed by whom, please let us have some answers? Perhaps if they had pelted him with eggs instead, the media and some on this site, would have thought this highly amusing, as they did in a recent egg pelting incident?

I thought Gromit's reference to Brown using his false eye as a paper weight, not at all amusing, in fact I thought it rather sick, but what one has come to expect from the likes of him.
