Is it true what I've heard that some people have 'something' missing in them that makes coriander taste like poison ? It does to me, even the tiniest bit in the strongest curry I can detect and makes me shudder.

I love coriander and put it in nearly everything!!!

I buy 4 bunches for a pound in the market, wash, chop and bag them up in the freezer and use as desired!
What sort of thing do you put coriander in then funnygirl? Is it mainly curries and similar?
My husband seems to be the same as you Curvybird. Eating out at the indian restaurant near us is a nightmare altho' they have got used to him now and dont put it on his food.
Yes lexie, I tend to put it in most things that have a sauce with the exception of creamy sauces.

Curries are the best!
Thanks funnygirl. I am still trying to find my way when it comes to home cooking, so any help is appreciated.

WOW! go to http://ihatecilantro.com/ You are not alone. I thought he just dislikes it : not that it actually tasted so vile to him!!
I LOVE coriander.....I wish I could find it as cheaply as you do,funny.
I too have heard of this sensitivity to it....never realised it was based in fact.
I love coriander, but your post has prompted me to Google about your dislike. You can even join a coriander hating website. Lol.

Personally I hate anything with almond paste in such as marzipan, Bakewell tarts etc, yet I can eat almonds in chocolate bars or from the nut selection at Xmas. Even the smell of almond scented shampoo leaves me heaving.

You may just have an inbuilt response to a trace element in the coriander plant.

I am so glad about this thread cos I've always found that cilantro tasted like soap and my hubby just couldn't understand me now I know I have something 'missing' well, that's not new....
