Can anyone kindly tell me what the person that commentates (for want of the correct word) at a funeral is called, I know its usually a vicar or a pastor or a priest ect but whats the other name they are called?

On thinking about it, if you had used "valedictorian" you would not have been really grammatically incorrect....more like socially incorrect. The term "valedictorian" refers to a person giving a final address to a class of graduates in an academic setting, mainly in Canada and the US I think. However, the root word "valediction" sort of means a farewell speech, and that is what a eulogist does.

Cheers stewey, thats 2 new words Ive learned (learnt?) and I was pleasantly surprised that 'valetdictorian' didn't mean something rude, I quite like that word, I'll have to think of a sentence I can use it in (any suggestions gratefully received).
