great to have an answer, but i too, would love to know the logic behind it.

add the 1st & 4th digit of 6134

add the 2nd and 3rd digit of 6134

answer is 410

Likewise with 9612 but add 1st & 3rd and 2nd & 4th

and with  4851 add 1st & 2nd and 3rd and 4th

Therefore for 7532 add 1st and 4th and 2nd and 3rd and get 98

thanks for explanation.  However, are the digits reversed in pair order depending if the poser had an odd or even number at the start?  The pattern does not appear to be constant otherwise.

As my last post was ridiculously deleted ( I was only suggesting certain posters should not give answers unless 1) they are reasonably sure of the answer and 2) in cases like this one provide adequate and logical reasoning behind their answer.......

I have no idea where your response went.  As you can see, I too, was mystified regarding the answer, as you could use several combinations of the numbers to get an answer. I cannot, therefore, accept 98 as being the only answer.  Shame Huggles hasn't responded to both our comments.
