The funny things animals do...

A couple of slightly daft questions:

1: I've had many cats during my lifetime, and I've noticed that every one of them, when it's dozing peacefully (usually most of the time) and you say its name, the end of its tail twitches for a few seconds. If you say any of the other cats' names, or any other word, it still twitches a bit, but not much. Any explanation - or is it more obvious: 'leave me alone, I'm sleeping'?

2: When you hear pigeons warbling, it is usually in three groups of four warbles, one up, one down... one down, one up... repeat twice... and then there is always one final 'down' warble at the end - almost as if to say 'signing off''. I always find it very amusing, how this is so predictable - but is there any known reason why they do this?

Probably both stupid questions, but if you don't ask, you don't get answers!

I have two cats and when I call "Frankie" only he comes and when I shout "Merlin" only she comes. However most of the time they completely ignore me.

Both come when I shout "sweeties".

Frustrating animals.
