A couple of weeks ago I bought a hanging basket of strawberries (demonstration evening at W.I) I have put it inmy unheated greenhouse and the one in the lower holes have died off but the ones in the top are flowering. My question is surely they shouldn't be flowering yet and should I take them off and wait for the next flowering. Thank you in anticipation x Janet

Sounds like the lower plants are short of water. Hanging baskets often have a plate set in them for water retention.....yours is set above the lower plants. Pull out the lower plants & re-plant higher up the basket.

Plants flower when dried off in preparation for fruiting/seeding....yours are too early....hang the basket outdoors to weather.
my strawberry plants that have been in the allotment all winter have just started flowering so it is not too early. Just give them a good feed and let them grow.

terambulan and hawkwalk, Thank you both for your answers. My computer has been infected by spyware and been with my repair man to have these removed and new virus checker installed, so sorry for not responding to your replies. Having read them both I shall harden off outside and take off flowers, so hope for lots of strawberries, the basket will look nice anyway. Thanks again JanetX
