I think that tahini is sesame seed paste.
The BBC Food website has lot's of recipes for Hummus...not all of them need Sesame Seeds or Tahini.

It might not be in every recipe but I think tahini is more or less essential for an authentic houmous!  I've tried without and it certainly affects the flavour, leaves it very bland I've found.  I buy mine at a health food shop - you could try your local independent or Holland and Barrett.  A big jar costs about 1.50.

Incidently, I've heard (but not tried) that you can make your own by whizzing sesame seeds to a paste and adding water until you get the right consistency (think slightly thicker than runny honey)

i no one gave you the answer
