Rich git!

My 8 year old gets 2
Seems fair enough to me. Other than the his kids, his rules argument I guess they orbit a different financial planet to some of us so what seems indulgent to one parent might seem in proportion to someone of his income.
My kids get up to 10 a week (they are 8 and 7) and I definitely dont operate in his income bracket. However, what they get depends on what chores they have done and their behaviour. I also don't buy them comics, sweets, toys or treats, they have to buy them with their own money, which they have to earn. They also use their own money to buy presents and gifts and I expect them to save some for holidays. So whilst it might sound a lot, it depends on what you expect them to do with it.

Do they call you "Mein fuhrer?" surely Thats a bit TOO much to save towards they're holidays While attempting to Buy they're own comics, sweets, toys&treats on up to a measly tenner a week? When they become teenagers vwill you really blame them if they started robbing and burglerising because of the pressure put on their poor little shoulders to come up with their own holiday money, what happens if they dont have enough? Are they left in the shed?
No, I am teaching them to be responsible, and handle their own money so that neither I or the rest of society have to pick up the financial mess they leave behind. The pocket money goes up each time tthey get another item to be responsible for. I actually pay for their holiday and probably most of their treats while on holiday, but I think that they enjoy the satisfaction of splurging their savings on holiday knowing that it is their own money.
Sorry annie, you came across like a villain to me.Yeah i see what your doing and its a great idea,if only more parents were like you instead of saying how high everytime their kids said jump, and then wonder why they grow up to be financially incompetent spoilt brats!
Sign of the times Puddi. Don't think you can get much with 1.50 a week. Thats what I used to get when I was around 10 - 12 in the early 80s.
