Hi, Question for you knowledgeable peeps!
I think i've found a suitable aluminium loft ladder, but i wanted to check something that it doesnt really explain.

The one i've found says it is for minimum hatch size of 503mm x 418mm. Our hatch is larger than that, so it sounds fine. It also says it comes with the trapdoor and all the bits.
So does that mean, when you buy it, you have to cut the trap door to fit your hatch? I figure it must, as it doesnt say "for hatches of b x d mm only".

Am i right, or am imissing something???

Hi kira000 I think you are missing to ask it depends what size the new trapdoor is and what it is made of hth Tez
hi kira i fitted one , a fakro confort, which is a wooden loft ladder that needs an 1100mm x 550mm opening. my original opening was wider and so i reduced in one direction (550) and increased the opening in the other direction (1100).
i had to make the opening in the ceiling / joists a sliding fit and then screwed the loft ladder frame inside the four sides of the opening that i had made in the ceiling by cutting away or adding to the joists as required
is that any help to you?
it took me longer to make the new opening than to screw the loft ladder to the frame
